Director of Business Development

DHD, a Chicago-based B2B marketing agency, seeks an experienced Business Developer to expand our client portfolio. What You’ll Do Open doors and win new business in our core verticals: Industrial & Manufacturing, Transportation & Logistics, Public Sector, and Senior Living. Target companies are mid‑market, roughly $50M to $300M in revenue. Leverage your network of decision‑makers in Chicagoland business and municipal circles. Lead the sales conversation by understanding a prospect’s growth challenges and presenting a clear plan with agency support. Qualify opportunities, prepare and deliver proposals and presentations, negotiate contracts, and collaborate with internal teams to ensure seamless transition from sales to account management. Work qualified inbound leads from our active digital campaigns, including booked calls with senior buyers. Help drive our RFP pipeline using your knowledge of public‑sector procurement. Who You Are Demonstrated expertise in new business development and lead generation, with a track record of creating and converting high‑quality marketing opportunities. A proven networker and closer in the Chicago area with deep, active relationships among B2B and municipal decision‑makers. Strong skills in business planning, including market analysis, pipeline forecasting, and development of growth strategies. Excellent communication, presentation, networking, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage senior leadership and key stakeholders. Experience in contract negotiation, with the ability to structure agreements that balance client needs and organizational objectives. Experience in at least one of the following industries: Industrial, Manufacturing, Home Services, Logistics, Senior Living, Tourism & Hospitality, or a public‑sector background (must). Self‑directed, motivated by performance‑based pay, and has earned commission before and wants the upside again. Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field; advanced degree or relevant certifications are a plus. Must be located in Illinois. Compensation Competitive base salary, set according to your track record. Uncapped commission on first‑year contract revenue from business you originate.
