Oral Surgery Assistant

Requirements Registered Dental Assistant (RDA), Certified Dental Assistant (CDA), Expanded Functions Dental Assistant (EFDA), Certified Orthodontic Assistant (COA), and related certifications. Driver’s license. Basic Life Support (BLS) and X-ray / Radiography Certification. Minimum six months of dental assisting experience (preferred). Sound knowledge of surgical equipment, instruments, and materials. Understanding of surgical techniques, chairside responsibilities, and health and safety protocols. Excellent understanding of dental records, charts, and documentation. Strong organizational and time‑management skills. Consistent professionalism in appearance and attitude. Responsibilities Assist the oral surgeon before, during, and after dental procedures, including taking X-rays. Prepare and sterilize surgical equipment and instruments. Tend to patients’ comfort and safety during procedures. Monitor inventory levels and replenish dental supplies as needed.
