This is a Direct Hire Solicitation Learn more about this agency Duties Help Conduct Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Program inspections and mishap investigations for the medical, dental, and medical support facilities. Responsible for the implementation of programs based on established national safety standards, including other applicable laws, rules, and regulations. Provides guidance on educational programs related to safety for Medical Treatment Facility Staff and other support activities in the command. Support Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) Program policies, regulation, instructions and standards. Create, educate, and conduct SOH training. Assist, address, and provide guidance to staff's Safety and Occupational Health (SOH) concerns. This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. Appointment to this position is subject to a one-year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315. This position has a Temporary Duty (TDY) or business travel requirement of 5% of the time. This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination unless exempted by medical personnel or for religious reasons. Employees are required to be screened for applicable immunizations or pre-existing immunity unless exempted for medical or administrative reasons. This position has a requirement to lift up to 25 lbs in the regular performance of duties Qualifications Who May Apply: US Citizens In order to qualify, you must meet the requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience : One year of specialized experience which includes conducting workplace inspections for compliance with established safety and occupational health standards in a healthcare or dental facility; conducting investigations of incidents involving workplace safety; and developing safety and occupational health programs, policies, or procedures for healthcare or dental facilities in accordance with government regulatory guidance. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education : Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. with a major study in safety or occupational health fields (safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene), or Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree in other related fields that included or was supplemented by at least 24 semester hours of study from among the following (or closely related) disciplines: safety, occupational health, industrial hygiene, occupational medicine, toxicology, public health, mathematics, physics, chemistry, biological sciences, engineering, and industrial psychology. OR Combination of Education and Experience : A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. Education FOREIGN EDUCATION: If you are using education completed in foreign colleges or universities to meet the qualification requirements, you must show the education credentials have been evaluated by a private organization that specializes in interpretation of foreign education programs and such education has been deemed equivalent to that gained in an accredited U.S. education program; or full credit has been given for the courses at a U.S. accredited college or university.
