Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Pharmacist experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.
This opportunity is for a Pharmacist position focused on long-term care (LTC) and mail order pharmacy services in Leesport, PA. The role offers a contract-to-hire arrangement over 26 weeks, with regular daytime hours from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, Monday through Friday.
Responsibilities include dispensing prescription medications accurately and ensuring patient compliance with prescribed therapies. The pharmacist will monitor medication usage patterns to prevent overuse and ensure that all medicines distributed comply with legal standards. Maintaining secure and confidential patient records, providing expert advice on medication administration, side effects, and drug interactions are key components of the role.
Additional duties involve patient education on medical device usage, providing preventive health services such as smoking cessation, blood pressure and cholesterol management, and compounding medications for internal and external use in a sterile environment. Supervising pharmacy staff members, managing inventory, and collaborating closely with healthcare professionals including physicians and nurses are also essential functions.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Valid Pennsylvania Pharmacy License is required
- Prior experience in long-term care (LTC) or mail order pharmacy preferred
- Strong knowledge of pharmaceutical regulations and drug therapy
- Excellent communication and supervisory skills
Schedule:
- Monday to Friday
- 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
Working in this role will provide exposure to a specialized pharmacy environment combining LTC and mail order services, allowing the pharmacist to develop expertise in both areas while influencing patient health outcomes positively.
