Senior EHS specialist

Senior EHS Specialist Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive environmental, health, and safety programs to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations and company policies within Waters/BP. This role fosters a safe and healthy work environment and minimizes environmental impact. Responsibilities Develop, implement, and manage EHS programs, policies, and procedures in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, DOT) and company standards. Conduct regular EHS inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure compliance. Investigate EHS incidents, accidents, and near misses, determine root causes, and recommend corrective and preventative actions. Develop and deliver EHS training programs for employees, including new hire orientation, hazard communication, emergency preparedness, and specialized safety topics. Manage and maintain EHS documentation, including permits, licenses, training records, incident reports, and compliance data. Collaborate with various departments to integrate EHS considerations into operational processes, equipment design, and facility modifications. Monitor environmental performance, including waste management, air emissions, and wastewater discharge, and ensure compliance with environmental permits. Lead emergency response planning and drills, including fire prevention, hazardous material spills, and medical emergencies. Stay current with new EHS regulations, industry best practices, and technological advancements to continually improve EHS performance. Prepare and submit required EHS reports to regulatory agencies and internal stakeholders. Act as a point of contact for regulatory agencies during inspections and inquiries. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 5‑7 years of progressive experience in EHS roles within a manufacturing or life sciences environment. Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant federal, state, and local EHS regulations. Proven experience in developing and implementing EHS programs and management systems. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills, with the ability to train and influence employees at all levels. Demonstrated ability to conduct incident investigations, root‑cause analysis, and implement effective corrective actions. Proficiency in EHS software and Microsoft Office Suite. Certifications such as CSP, CIH, or CHMM are highly desirable. Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced environment. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills. Experience with ISO14001 and OHSAS18001 (or ISO45001) standards preferred.
