Yard Hostler

Pay: $26.00 per hour

Schedule: Day Shift

Job Summary

We are seeking a reliable and safety-focused Yard Hostler to join our team. The Yard Hostler is responsible for moving trailers safely and efficiently throughout the yard to support warehouse and transportation operations. This position plays a key role in ensuring trailers are staged correctly, loaded and unloaded on schedule, and yard operations run smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Move loaded and empty trailers throughout the yard.
• Stage trailers at designated dock doors for loading and unloading.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of equipment.
• Communicate with warehouse personnel, dispatch, and transportation teams regarding trailer movements.
• Maintain accurate records of trailer locations and movements.
• Inspect trailers for visible damage and report maintenance issues.
• Keep the yard organized and free of hazards.
• Assist with additional yard duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Previous yard hostler or yard jockey
• Valid driver’s license required
• • CDL required
• Ability to safely operate a yard tractor.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety.
• Ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally.
• Reliable attendance and punctuality.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently enter and exit hostler equipment.
• Stand, walk, bend, and climb throughout the shift.
• Work outdoors in varying temperatures and weather conditions.
• Ability to work 8–12 hour shifts as needed.
