Patient Access Representative

Job Title ORIENTATION IS MON-FRI 8a-4:30p FOR 2-3 WEEKS Includes time in Springfield at Mercy Medical Center Position Purpose Completes patient registrations/pre-registration processes in the ED following department procedures using identified technology systems. Processes include obtaining accurate demographic, insurance and patient liability information. Responsible for working with multiple department/hospital and web-based systems. What You Will Do Performs complete and accurate pre-registrations, registration, and admission functions Verifies insurance requirements, obtains and understands insurance benefits Ensures that all entries concerning demographic, financial and advanced directives are Collects non-covered fees Minimum Qualifications Minimum High school or equivalent One year experience in an accredited hospital or physician's office preferred Strong interpersonal, communication and interview skills Demonstrated proficiency in the use of computer systems and computer devices Knowledge of medical terminology and medical insurances Position Highlights and Benefits Part time 16hrs every two week cycle (equivalent of 8hr per week) on weekday 6:45a-3:15p shift ORIENTATION IS MON-FRI ON 8-4:30 DAYS FOR 2-3 WEEKS Some will be in Springfield at Mercy Medical Center 3rd week required if less than 1 year hospital-based registration experience Great Benefits and Health Insurance Coverage starting day 1 Ministry/Facility Information Johnson Memorial Hospital and Home & Community Health Services provide a continuum of health care services to those living and working in north central Connecticut and western Massachusetts.
