2L Fall Intern (District Attorney’s Office) Employment Type: 5 - Intern Pay Range: $21.00 - $21.00 Location: Castle Rock, CO Overtime Exempt: N Elected Office / Department: DISTRICT ATTORNEY Eligibility This internship position is for current 2L law student applicants who have completed one full year of law school prior to their internship start date for the Fall upcoming year. During the Fall semester, interns generally work 8 hours a day, 2-3 days a week to work around their law school schedule. Accommodations to this schedule can be made. We Provide Practical Experience Our 2L internship program offers law students a unique opportunity to conduct meaningful work on real criminal cases. Interns will be involved in all aspects of criminal prosecution from investigation through trial, including cases involving murder, sexual assault, aggravated robbery, and other violent crime. Interns will research legal issues, draft pleadings, observe courtroom proceedings, review new felony filings for evidentiary challenges, and prepare exhibits for trial. We Train for the Future The internship is designed for students contemplating a career in criminal prosecution. Mentoring prepares interns for positions as 3L interns working and trying cases under the Student Practice Act, and ultimately as deputy district attorneys. Minimum Qualifications Education: Candidates must be attending law school and have completed their first year. Experience: None. Hours: During the semester, interns work 8 hours a day, 5 days a week.
