3L SPA Fall Intern (District Attorney’s Office) Employment Type: Intern | Pay Range: $21.00 – $21.00 | Location: Castle Rock, CO | Overtime Exempt: N | Elected Office / Department: DISTRICT ATTORNEY Eligibility Current 3L law student who has completed at least two full years of law school prior to semester start. Qualified to practice under the Student Practice Act before internship begins (see C.R.C.P. Rule 205.7). Ability to work 8 hours a day, 2–3 days a week during the fall semester; accommodations may be discussed. Responsibilities Interns will primarily work in the courtroom where they will: Argue motions, sentences, and cases before a judge. Conduct jury trials, including voir dire, opening, closing, direct and cross examinations. Negotiate plea dispositions with defense counsel and pro‑se individuals. Review real criminal cases, consult with victims, and negotiate plea offers with defendants. Receive daily guidance and supervision from deputy district attorneys and one‑to‑one mentorship from senior attorneys. The internship provides comprehensive training, including weekly case‑review sessions, courtroom observation, and specialized legal workshops. Minimum Qualifications Education: Currently enrolled in law school; must satisfy Student Practice Act requirements. Experience: None required.
