*Job Summary*

*Fort Meade Animal Clinic *is seeking an experienced, compassionate, and highly skilled *Responsible Veterinarian (DVM)* to lead our clinical operations and serve as the *Veterinarian of Record (Responsible DVM)* for the practice.

This leadership role is ideal for a veterinarian who is passionate about delivering exceptional patient care while mentoring the medical team and ensuring the highest standards of veterinary medicine, client service, and regulatory compliance.

The ideal candidate is an experienced *small animal surgeon* with excellent clinical judgment and leadership skills. *Expertise in surgery is required*, while experience in *dermatology* and *orthopedics* is considered a strong advantage.

*Duties*

* Conduct thorough examinations of animals to assess health status and diagnose medical conditions
* Perform veterinary procedures including animal restraint, catheterization, and aseptic techniques
* Administer vaccinations, medications, and treatments tailored to individual animal needs
* Assist with surgical procedures, ensuring proper anesthesia and post-operative care
* Handle animals with care, utilizing animal handling and husbandry skills to minimize stress and ensure safety
* Provide pet grooming, pet care advice, and education to pet owners on proper animal husbandry practices
* Maintain accurate records of patient histories, treatments, and laboratory results
* Collaborate with laboratory staff for diagnostic testing and interpret laboratory results effectively
* Manage emergency cases requiring veterinary critical care with professionalism and urgency
* Stay current with veterinary terminology, animal physiology, and anatomy knowledge to ensure best practices

*Requirements*

* Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM or equivalent) from an accredited veterinary school, with eligibility to practice in the *State of Florida*.
* Active *Florida Veterinary License* in good standing, or eligibility to obtain Florida licensure prior to employment.
* Strong experience and confidence performing *small animal surgery* in accordance with Florida veterinary standards.
* Experience performing dental procedures and oral surgery.
* Experience in *Dermatology* is highly desirable.
* Experience in *Orthopedics* is considered a significant plus.
* Active *DEA Registration* (or ability to obtain one prior to employment) to prescribe and handle controlled substances in the State of Florida.
* Previous experience as a *Medical Director*, *Responsible Veterinarian*, or in a veterinary leadership role within a Florida practice is preferred but not required.
* Knowledge of *Florida veterinary laws, regulations, and standards of care*, including medical recordkeeping and controlled substance requirements.
* Outstanding communication and client service skills.
* Strong leadership, mentoring, and decision-making abilities.
* Ability to thrive in a collaborative, fast-paced clinical environment while maintaining the highest standards of veterinary medicine.

Pay: $119,942.76 - $150,000.00 per year
