Production Packer & Warehouse Material Handler

Location: Jackson, MI 49203
Worksite: 701 E. Washington Avenue, Jackson, MI
Pay Rate: $19.00/hour
Shift: Multiple Shifts Available

• Standard: 8-hour shift + OT
• Night: 6:00 PM–6:00 AM (12-hour shift)
  Work Arrangement: Onsite

Position Overview

We are seeking dependable and hardworking Production & Warehouse Material Handlers to support a fast-paced vinyl siding manufacturing operation in Jackson, Michigan.

This position supports both production and warehouse operations , including packaging and inspecting finished vinyl siding products, supplying materials to production lines, moving finished products to the warehouse, loading and unloading shipments, maintaining inventory, and preparing products for shipment.

The ideal candidate is comfortable working in a physically demanding manufacturing environment, operating warehouse equipment, performing repetitive production tasks, and maintaining a strong focus on safety, quality, accuracy, and production efficiency .

This is a hands-on position requiring 12-hour overnight shifts and the ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 60 pounds .

Key Responsibilities

Production & Packaging

• Pack finished vinyl siding panels and accessory products according to established procedures.
• Assemble and glue cardboard packaging boxes.
• Cut packing straps to required lengths.
• Label and number packaging boxes accurately.
• Load finished products onto skids/pallets.
• Secure completed skids using packing straps and wrapping equipment.
• Prepare finished skids for transfer to the warehouse.
• Assist machine operators with production line setup and production activities.
• String and prepare production lines as directed.
• Monitor and replenish hot glue and packaging materials.
• Ensure production areas have sufficient corrugated boxes and other required materials.
• Support continuous production by keeping materials available at the production line.

Quality Inspection

• Visually inspect finished vinyl siding panels for color inconsistencies, damage, and other visible defects.
• Identify defective or nonconforming products.
• Notify machine operators or shift leadership of quality concerns.
• Follow established quality standards and inspection procedures.
• Verify finished products are properly packaged, labeled, and prepared for shipment.
• Help maintain consistent product quality throughout the production process.

Warehouse & Material Handling

• Pull completed skids from production lines and transport them to designated warehouse locations.
• Scan finished products into the inventory system.
• Organize warehouse inventory and shelving.
• Perform daily cycle counts and help resolve inventory discrepancies.
• Stock materials in partial-pick and designated warehouse areas.
• Remove scrap skids and materials from production areas.
• Operate pallet wrapping equipment safely and efficiently.
• Operate forklifts/lift trucks to move materials and finished products.
• Unload inbound materials, equipment, chemicals, and interplant shipments.
• Verify inbound materials against packing sheets and shipping documentation.
• Move received materials to the appropriate storage locations.
• Supply production lines with required materials to prevent production interruptions.

Shipping & Receiving

• Pick loads for shipment and gather complete/full skids according to orders.
• Verify shipments against packing sheets.
• Load carrier trucks while ensuring products are properly secured and weight is distributed appropriately.
• Dock trailers for loading and unloading using appropriate equipment.
• Prepare and process small-package shipments using UPS or similar shipping systems.
• Coordinate shipping equipment or truck repairs when required.
• Maintain accurate shipping and receiving documentation.
• Enter material transactions into SAP when required.

Safety & Housekeeping

• Follow all facility safety policies, procedures, and manufacturing requirements.
• Properly use required PPE.
• Maintain clean, organized, and safe production, warehouse, and shipping areas.
• Perform routine housekeeping and cleanup duties.
• Safely operate forklifts, pallet equipment, wrapping machines, and other assigned equipment.
• Report safety concerns, equipment problems, inventory discrepancies, and quality issues to supervisors.
• Follow proper procedures when working around machinery, chemicals, dust, noise, and other manufacturing hazards.
• Support a safe and efficient work environment at all times.

Teamwork & Additional Responsibilities

• Work closely with machine operators, warehouse personnel, supervisors, and shift leadership.
• Communicate production, quality, inventory, and shipping issues promptly.
• Assist with training new production or warehouse associates when assigned.
• Support continuous improvement initiatives and management-assigned projects.
• Perform other production, warehouse, shipping, and material-handling duties as required.

Required Qualifications

• Previous experience in manufacturing, production, warehouse, shipping/receiving, or material handling preferred.
• Ability to safely lift and move materials weighing up to 60 pounds .
• Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
• Ability to frequently bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, push, pull, and climb stairs/ladders.
• Ability to work 12-hour overnight shifts .
• Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
• Ability to work in environments that may be noisy, dusty, hot/cold, and exposed to chemical odors .
• Ability to safely operate or obtain certification for a forklift/lift truck .
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Ability to work independently and effectively as part of a team.
