Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical/Surgical/Telemetry Duration: 13-20 weeks accepted Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Current nursing license required Certifications: BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Minimum of 2 years of experience in a Medical/Surgical/Telemetry setting. Unit accepts first-time travelers. Locals are accepted with a rate difference. Must be capable of interpreting dysrhythmias and managing them. Experience with telemetry and remote monitoring. Ability to utilize Rapid Response/Code teams. Knowledge of bowel obstruction, colostomy/ileostomy management, and care. Experience in feeding tube care and management. Pre/Post Hemodialysis management and renal failure experience required. Experience with blood product administration and central line blood draw. Familiarity with peripheral line care/management and phlebotomy. Experience in starting and maintaining IVs. Knowledge of administration of Heparin, Insulin, and PCA. Experience managing chest tubes, BiPAP/CPAP, and high flow nasal cannula. Skills in non-invasive airway management, oral suctioning, and oxygen administration. Expertise in isolation precautions and wound care including wound vac. Description: This role involves providing comprehensive nursing care to patients on a Medical/Surgical/Telemetry unit. Patients may present with a variety of diagnoses including diabetes, dementia, COVID, pneumonia, COPD, sepsis, and more. Travelers may be required to float to different units as needed. The nurse will work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team including physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services. Patient ratios are typically 1:6. Weekend work is required every other weekend. No call requirement is in place. Candidates must be open to working holidays. Orientation for the position consists of 24 hours. All candidates must demonstrate competency in EKG testing prior to starting in this specialty. This role requires the ability to experience emergencies related to catastrophic events or disasters.
