Summit County Public Health is looking for an Environmental Health Manager in our Air Quality and Solid Waste programs to work on a full-time basis (35 hours per week, Monday through Friday). This vital role serves as a key technical expert and agency representative, engaging in high-level stakeholder collaboration, program innovation, and regulatory enforcement.

Primary Duties

• Collaborate with agencies including but not limited to: Ohio EPA, US EPA, AMATS, NOACA, Summit County LEPC, Reworks, hospitals, and local municipalities on air quality issues and initiatives.
• Design and implement strategic programs focused on improving regional air quality and minimizing public health risks.
• Lead agency representation in enforcement actions, from initial Ohio EPA notifications through potential court appearances.
• Develop and deliver technical presentations to educate and train external stakeholders on air quality topics.
• Maintain the SCPH's status as an approved licensing authority for the Ohio EPA's Solid Waste program, and provide guidance to SCPH management regarding upcoming solid waste issues in the state and country.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree with a minimum of 30 semester (or 45 quarter) hours in the sciences or engineering core courses.
• Masters' degree is preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of experience in public health, or a related field, and 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Maintenance of Registered Environmental Health Specialist credential from ODH (or alternatively, experience as an Air Quality Supervisor for the Air Quality/Solid Waste Manager position).
• Current valid Ohio driver's, automobile availability and insurance coverage.
