Director OF Development

The client is seeking a Director of Development (Part-Time) to lead and expand fundraising efforts in a strategic, relationship-driven manner. Reporting to the Managing Artistic Director, the Director will design and execute a comprehensive development program that covers individual giving, major gifts, institutional support, sponsorships, special events, and donor stewardship. This role requires serving as an engaging ambassador for the organization’s mission while cultivating meaningful relationships and broadening the base of support. The Director of Development will help build the philanthropic resources needed to advance the organization’s artistic and community impact, with responsibilities that include planning and implementing development initiatives and ensuring strong donor engagement and follow-through. The position is currently part-time, with the potential to grow into a full-time opportunity as the fundraising program and contributed revenue expand. A hybrid work arrangement is possible, with regular in-person presence expected in Columbia, Maryland, for meetings, donor engagement, concerts, fundraising events, and other organizational activities. In addition to strong interpersonal skills and the ability to persuade and advocate for the mission, the ideal candidate is expected to bring creativity, initiative, and a results-oriented mindset to the role. The position is focused on delivering high-quality development outcomes season after season while maintaining enthusiasm and commitment to the work. The client presents chamber music and arts education, including national and international ensembles and soloists and support for emerging artists.
