Family Law Paralegal

ProspectBlue is partnering with a well-established law firm to identify an experienced Family Law Paralegal to support a Family Law attorney in its Washington, DC office. This full-time, on-site opportunity is ideal for an accomplished paralegal who excels in a dynamic litigation environment and enjoys serving as a key resource to both attorneys and clients. The schedule for this position is Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. ET. The successful candidate will possess significant family law experience, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload while maintaining attention to detail and delivering outstanding client service. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is proactive, dependable, and highly organized. They take initiative, anticipate the attorney's needs, and confidently oversee cases from initial intake through final resolution with minimal supervision. This individual demonstrates strong judgment, identifies potential issues before they arise, and helps keep matters progressing efficiently while providing a high level of support to clients throughout the legal process. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive litigation support for a wide range of family law matters, including divorce, child custody, child and spousal support, equitable distribution, domestic violence cases, contempt proceedings, and post-judgment matters. Draft, edit, and finalize legal documents, including pleadings, motions, discovery requests and responses, subpoenas, financial affidavits, settlement agreements, correspondence, and other case-related materials. Prepare and electronically file documents with Washington, DC courts, ensuring compliance with all applicable filing procedures, court rules, and deadlines. Coordinate attorney calendars, court appearances, mediation sessions, discovery schedules, and other key case deadlines. Serve as a primary liaison for clients by providing timely updates, answering questions, and maintaining professional, compassionate communication throughout the course of representation. Review, organize, and summarize financial documentation, including tax returns, bank records, business records, and other materials relevant to family law proceedings. Assist with all phases of discovery, including document production, subpoenas, depositions, and coordination with expert witnesses. Prepare trial and hearing materials, including exhibits, witness files, notebooks, binders, and mediation packets. Maintain accurate and well-organized electronic and physical case files. Track case activity, monitor upcoming deadlines, identify outstanding tasks, and help ensure cases continue moving forward efficiently. Collaborate effectively with attorneys, clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, mediators, and outside experts. Accurately record billable time and provide additional case management and administrative support as needed. Qualifications Minimum of three years of experience as a Family Law Paralegal, preferably within a litigation-focused practice. Demonstrated experience managing complex family law cases from inception through final resolution. Familiarity with Washington, DC family law procedures and court practices is strongly preferred. Excellent legal drafting, proofreading, organizational, and case management abilities. Thorough understanding of discovery processes, court filing procedures, and litigation support. Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build positive relationships with clients and legal professionals. Ability to prioritize competing deadlines, work independently, and thrive in a fast-paced legal environment while maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism. #J-18808-Ljbffr
