DESCRIPTION:
As a Purchasing Supervisor at Thermo Fisher Scientific, you'll guide and support a collaborative team while ensuring consistent supply chain execution. You'll serve as the key point of contact for purchasing activities, managing supplier relationships and driving operational excellence. Working closely with cross-functional partners, you'll optimize procurement processes, coordinate continuous improvement initiatives, and ensure timely delivery of materials to support business operations. REQUIREMENTS:
• Advanced Degree plus 3 years of experience, or Bachelor's Degree plus 5 years of experience in purchasing, supply chain, or related field
• Preferred Fields of Study: Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or related field
• APICS certification (CPIM, CIRM, CSCP) preferred
• Lean/Six Sigma certification preferred
• Experience leading and developing teams of 4-7 direct reports preferred
• Strong ERP system knowledge, with SAP/AS400 experience preferred
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel
• Experience with data mining tools (SQL, Cognos) preferred
• Proven experience in supplier relationship management and negotiation
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills for data-driven decision making
• Experience implementing process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for stakeholder management
• Ability to adapt in a dynamic environment while managing multiple priorities
• Strong customer service orientation and commitment to operational excellence
• Experience conducting business reviews and developing performance improvement plans
• Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a matrix organization
• Fluency in English required; additional language skills beneficial
• Strong project management and organizational skills
• Proven ability to achieve measurable results
