Job Title: Registered Nurse - Psychiatric Emergency Room Profession: RN Specialty: Psychiatric Nursing Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Rotational (Days, Evenings, Nights) Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum 2 years License: NY License required Certifications: BLS Certification (AHA) required Must-Have: - RN License (NY License required) - Two years of experience - BLS Certification (American Heart Association required) Description: Conduct intake assessments through interviews with patients and relatives to gather case history. Plan and provide nursing care for patients. Make nursing diagnoses of the medical and emotional status of patients and recommend treatment options. Consult with psychiatrists and other behavioral health staff in designing appropriate treatment plans for clients. Administer and note reactions to psychotropic drugs and other medications. Arrange further medical attention when necessary. Assist clients in understanding the nature of emotional disturbances and accepting the need for treatment. Maintain a safe and secure environment for staff and patients. Test for vital signs of pain and ensure treatments of pain. Document all patient information on medical charts and follow written orders. Maintain patient confidentiality. Keep accurate records and documentation of patient treatments, immunizations, and laboratory results according to standard medical recordkeeping. Perform administrative assignments such as filing, answering phones, typing, and completing progress notes in the computer system. Provide courteous, high-quality service to patients and members of the public by personally responding to requests for service or making appropriate referrals.
