Big Rock Plumbing & HVAC is looking for an M&A Integration Manager to help us evaluate, acquire, and integrate plumbing and HVAC companies as we grow into new markets.

This is an operations-heavy role. We are not looking for an investment banker or someone who wants to spend all day building financial models. We need someone who understands how businesses actually operate and can help take an acquired company from the way it operates today to the way we want it to operate as part of Big Rock.

What You’ll Do

During an acquisition, you will be involved before and after closing.

Before closing:

• Help with operational due diligence
• Learn how the target company actually operates
• Identify key employees, operational risks, process gaps, and potential integration problems
• Help build the transition plan before we take ownership
• Work with our accounting, operations, HR, and leadership teams during diligence

After closing:

• Spend significant time onsite at the acquired company
• Help transition accounting, payroll, purchasing, HR, software, reporting, and other systems
• Implement Big Rock processes and SOPs
• Work directly with managers and employees through the transition
• Track integration projects and make sure things actually get finished
• Identify problems quickly and help solve them

When we are not actively working on an acquisition, you will work inside Big Rock's existing operations. You may help improve SOPs, run operational projects, solve problems, and learn how our plumbing and HVAC businesses operate.

The goal is for you to become an expert in how Big Rock operates so you can help successfully implement those systems in future acquisitions.

Who We’re Looking For

Ideally, you have:

• 5–10 years of business or operations experience
• Experience in construction, home services, field services, or another operationally intensive business
• Experience managing projects across multiple departments
• Experience with an acquisition or business integration is strongly preferred
• A good understanding of financial statements and business performance
• The ability to work with everyone from owners and managers to office staff and field employees
• Strong organizational skills without needing everything to be perfectly organized around you
• The ability to identify problems and take ownership of getting them fixed
• Willingness to travel regularly and spend extended periods in other states during acquisitions

Experience in plumbing, HVAC, electrical, construction, or another skilled-trades business is a major plus.

We care more about operating ability and judgment than having the perfect M&A resume.

What This Job Is Like

An acquisition can be messy. The company we buy may have different software, different processes, incomplete information, employees who are nervous about the transition, and an owner who has run the business his or her own way for decades.

You need to be comfortable walking into that environment, figuring out what is actually going on, building relationships with the people there, and steadily moving the company toward the way Big Rock operates.

This is not a remote project-management position. You will be expected to be onsite when needed and personally involved in making the transition work.

Compensation

Base salary: $100,000–$120,000

Annual performance bonus available.

Benefits include Health Insurance, 6% 401(k) match with a Roth option, PTO, paid parental leave etc..

Travel expenses are paid by the company.
