Maintenance Technician

JOB DESCRIPTION: MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN

GENERAL SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for keeping all machinery up and running to the equipment specifications, as well as maintaining the facility and all the ancillary support equipment. In addition, the position is critical to new equipment design and installation.

CORE & ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinates repairs with manufacturing to maximize uptime and efficiencies and have equipment meet organizational standards.
• Troubleshoot and repair equipment.
• Perform preventative maintenance on production equipment and facility support systems.
• Order replacement parts as needed.
• Maintains adequate amount of replacement parts to maximize efficiencies.
• Fabricate parts for machinery as needed.
• Assist in operating and adjusting PLC and programs on equipment as directed.
• Work with outside contractors on repairs, installations and engineering designs.
• Perform general facilities maintenance, including replacing light bulbs, changing filters, painting, and completing routine repairs.
• Consistently applies 5S practices throughout the plant (5S methodology stands for "Sort", "Set In order", "Shine", "Standardize" and "Sustain").
• Ensures all safety and environmental policies and procedures are consistently demonstrated
• Maintains a positive atmosphere and a clean working area.
• Performs all other tasks as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

• Possession of at least a high school diploma or GED is required and a post-secondary degree is preferred.
• In lieu of a degree, a comparable combination of education, job specific certification(s), and experience (including military service) may be considered.
• Vocational school or technical training in electrical ,industrial electronics, and HVAC is preferred. Ability to read equipment schematics and blue prints.
• Proven knowledge in motors, pumps and circuit boards.
• Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and driving record which is acceptable to our insurance provider to operate company vehicles and trucks.
• Adherence to health and safety regulations (e.g. use of protective gear).
• Demonstrated aptitude for problem-solving; ability to determine solutions. Must be results-orientated and able to work both independently and within a team environment. Must work effectively with divergent types of people.
• Must possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Driving is a requirement for this position. Therefore, must have the ability to travel domestically via operating a motor vehicle and maintain a valid driver license and driving record which is acceptable to our insurance provider.
• Must have a vehicle in good working condition and ensure it meets all safety, insurance, and legal requirements.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to communicate orally in a clear, concise, and effective manner with co-workers and management in face-to-face and group settings. Ability to maintain regular, predictable, and punctual attendance at the facility. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Use of office equipment such as a personal computer and mobile devices may be required. Sit, stand, and/or walk for extended time periods. Must frequently lift, maneuver, and/or pivot up to 65 pounds and occasionally lift, maneuver and/or pivot more than 100 pounds with assistance. Hearing and vision required to be within normal ranges. Ability to accurately distinguish color variation. Read at, above, and below shoulder height. Frequently stoop, kneel, or crouch. The manufacturing plant is not climate controlled. Ability to work overtime, call-in, and flexible schedules/shifts. Maintains a positive attitude and contributes to a positive work environment.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes, chemicals and/or airborne particles, high pressure fluids, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The noise level in the work environment may be loud.
