Sr. Group Life Claims Examiner (HYBRID or REMOTE)

What You’ll Be Doing Claims Management: Oversees the end‑to‑end claims process for life claims, ensuring accurate processing within regulatory and company guidelines. Delivers an exceptional customer experience and meets commitments and deliverables. Reviews and interprets medical records, performs complex financial calculations when applicable, and applies policy provisions to ensure accurate eligibility and liability decisions. Demonstrates analytical and critical thinking skills. Client and Customer Relationships: Fosters strong relationships with clients to understand needs and ensure high satisfaction. Addresses and resolves customer challenges promptly via telephone, email, or text. Provides timely, accurate claim payment, responds to inquiries, and maintains expected service and quality standards. Works in a fast‑paced environment, balances competing priorities, and mentors junior claim examiners. Oversees complex, high‑priority or escalated cases and callers. Flexible work schedule: fully remote or hybrid. Those near our offices (Charlotte, NC; New York, NY; Syracuse, NY) are expected to work 2–3 days on‑site per week to foster collaboration. Base salary range: $60,000 – $68,000 . Base salaries vary based on skills, experience, and geographic location. Equitable offers performance‑based reward programs, including base salary increases, spot bonuses, and short‑term incentive compensation, contingent on level and functional responsibility. Detailed benefit descriptions are available through the Equitable Total Rewards Program. Required Qualifications 3+ years of experience managing life claim products. Excellent client relationship management skills. Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills. Comfortable with complexity and ambiguity; able to explore multiple solutions. Preferred Qualifications Experience with the FINEOS Claims software platform. Exceptional customer service skills; proven success with challenging customers. Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements for life claims. Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality and professionalism. Strong written and oral communication skills demonstrated in prior work. Excellent organizational and time‑management skills with ability to multitask and prioritize deadlines. Ability to manage multiple changing priorities. Detail oriented; able to analyze and research contract information. Demonstrated sense of urgency. Experience in exceeding professional expectations and team goals. Demonstrated analytical and math skills. Critical thinking, risk management, and sound judgment. Adaptability and effective problem‑solving communication. High flexibility to adapt to changing organizational needs. Self‑motivated, independent, and collaborative teamwork. Continuous improvement mindset. Commitment to diversity and inclusion. Strong computer literacy; proficiency with PC programs such as Excel and Word. Reliability and dependability throughout the training program. Skills Analytical Thinking: Ability to determine root causes and create alternative solutions. Customer Support Operations: Knowledge of techniques, tools, and best practices for managing a call center. Customer Support Systems: Proficiency with applications, hardware, software, and networking used for customer support. Managing Multiple Priorities: Ability to prioritize objectives, projects, and activities effectively. Problem Solving: Ability to recognize, anticipate, and resolve organizational or process problems.
