POSITIONSUMMARY:

The Atlanta Fed’s Community and Economic Development Department supports the central bank’s mandate of stable prices and maximum employment by helping improve the economic opportunity of low-and moderate-incomepopulationsand underserved placesfor a stronger economy for all Americans. To this end, the Department seeks a Community and Economic Development Research Advisor/Senior Advisortoproduceoriginalquantitativeresearch papersandreports ontopics related toaffordable housing, housing policy,or broader housing dynamicsaffectinglow- and moderate-income populations. The Advisor/Senior Advisor establishesanannual research agendaaligned withtheCommunity and Economic Developmentmission andstrategy;contributes tothe Bank's objective ofremaininga knowledge centerfor applied researchby writing;givesspeeches and talksto outside audiences;andcollaborateson research projectswith Community and Economic Development colleagues,research economists, and other Bank staff.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Research and Writing Leads research design and writing ofquantitativeresearch onaffordable housingtopics.Identifies new researchopportunities and proposesaresearch agenda. Produceswritten reports for publication inthe Department’sDiscussionPapersandshort-formpublications and mayauthor academic journal publicationsas appropriate. Engagement and Translation of Research Translates quantitative research into actionable insights for housing stakeholders throughout the Sixth District. Develops and maintains relationships with other researchers and practitionersinsupportthe Department's research and engagement strategy. Monitoring and Analysis Through data analysis and a network of community contacts,contributes tothe regular monitoring of affordable housing trends andrelatedissues in the Sixth District. BriefsBank leadership on Sixth District affordable housing trends andrelatedissuesto enhance understanding of barriers and opportunities experienced bylow-andmoderate-income populations. Departmental Engagement MentorsCommunity and Economic Development analystsand staff. Contributesto the overall research environment byattendinginternalseminarsandproviding feedback on other’s work.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

Required Advanceddegree inPublicPolicy,Economics, or a relatedquantitativesocial science fieldor commensurateresearchexperience inanaffordable housing topical area. Experienceindependentlydesigning and completingresearch projects. Establishedrecord of applied and/or scholarly publicationon topics related toaffordable housing, housing policy, or broader housing dynamics affecting low- and moderate-income populations. Demonstrated knowledge ofadvanced quantitativeresearchmethods. Preferred Ph.D.inPublic Policy, Economics, or a related quantitative social science field. Experience communicating research to a broader audience of practitioners and policymakers.
