Mechanical Design Engineer 3

Scope of Work Design function: complete research, data acquisition, engineering generation required to produce engineering product (parts list, drawings, documents, etc.) Design content: ensuring design content conforms to company quality system procedures, customer statement of work, and applicable certification requirements. Career growth: work with Senior Technical Engineers and Project Engineers to grow in engineering experience. Statement of work development: take customer desire and develop comprehensive program definition, including kit development, manpower requirements, and engineering statement of work to complete a program. Develop engineering packages from concept to production utilizing engineering tools and other personnel. Ensure drawings and documents meet standards established by the NAT quality system, customer requirements, and applicable certification authority. Grow experience by tackling tasks in multiple disciplines of the aerospace industry (structures, interiors, systems for mechanical engineers; wire diagrams, wire kits, installations for electrical engineers). Expertise in multiple disciplines of the field. Very minimal guidance required to accomplish tasks. Qualifications Four‑year engineering degree (Mechanical, Electrical, Civil, Software Engineering) or equivalent. Five to seven or more years of broad technical experience in an aerospace‑related application, or equivalent experience for non‑degree employees. Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and AutoCAD. Experience researching OEM drawings, specifically related to mechanical systems such as environmental control systems, vacuum waste systems, and water supply & drain systems. Experience designing mechanical system installations such as environmental control systems, vacuum waste systems, and water supply & drain systems. Skills & Abilities Drawing management. Troubleshooting/problem solving. Ability to work independently or within a team. Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to prioritize, multi‑task effectively, and work under pressure. Superior attention to detail. Ability to mentor less experienced engineering personnel. Coordination with customers, suppliers, and interdepartmental personnel required. Working Conditions Primarily office work. Consistent use of computer keyboard and monitor. Requires fluent communication in English. Protracted or irregular hours may be required. Must be comfortable meeting firm deadlines and completing work on time.
