Custodian

Custodian Position

The National WWII Museum is currently seeking custodians. Reporting to the facilities manager, the custodian position performs daily and/or nightly duties as communicated by the on-duty supervisor: director of facilities, the assistant facilities manager, the maintenance worker, or lead custodian.

Requirements:

• Perform routine custodial tasks according to established maintenance schedules.
• Perform special assigned duties for floor care including buffing, sealing and stripping, carpet shampoo and extraction, auto scrubbing operations, and pressure washing of the sidewalks.
• Ensure engraved bricks are well maintained and clean.
• Provide input to the director of facilities on general maintenance that may need to be performed, such as light bulb replacement or exhibit repairs.
• Maintain security of the museum during cleaning while the museum is closed.
• Undertake other duties and special projects as assigned by the director of facilities or the lead custodian.

Qualifications:

• Physical ability to perform manual work.
• Minimum of six months experience in custodial, housekeeping, food service, or other related work.
• Familiarity with cleaning procedures.
• Familiarity with the care and maintenance of custodial equipment.
• Basic knowledge of audio/visual equipment is helpful.
• Regular and reliable attendance.
• Willingness to work overtime during special events or heavy visitation periods.
