Manager of Food and Nutrition Services Location: BLH Bronson LakeView Hospital Job Summary: This position is responsible for directing the total operation of the Nutrition Services Department, including patient meal service, cafeteria operations, vending, and catering. The Manager will oversee inpatient and outpatient nutrition programs, ensure compliance with all JCAHO, State, and Federal regulations, and develop and administer departmental policies and procedures. Responsibilities Develop and implement short‑term and long‑term plans for the department with COO approval. Monitor, evaluate, and report on department goals. Develop, secure approval, and administer the department budget. Review and monitor budget and report to COO. Develop and administer policies and procedures for the unit/department. Participate in development of department policies that include nursing or other departments. Interview, hire, develop, evaluate, and discipline all employees in the department. Manage operational areas: BLH Cafeteria, BLH Food Services, BLH Diet Office, BLH Catering/Vending, BLH Inpatient and Outpatient Nutrition Services. Establish operating standards for quality in the department. Support Lean Initiative – Manager rounding and attending daily DCI. Coordinate all employee appreciation events at BLH and organize leader volunteers for events. Manage hospital petty cash fund and provide change as needed to other departments. Manage all food service vendors and invoicing. Drive own vehicle for business purposes; maintain valid auto insurance and pass MVR check. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in food service, hospitality management, business administration, or related field (or equivalent knowledge). Three to five years of experience in food service management. ServSafe Food Protection Manager certification (required as of June 2019). Good computer skills and experience programming and maintaining several databases (cash register, Point of Sale, At Your Request-room service). Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Strong problem‑solving skills. Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills. Work Environment Work includes frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines, operation of a personal computer or CRT up to 40% of the time, considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light‑weight objects (up to 20 pounds), and occasional minor straining or fatiguing positions.
