PEER RECOVERY SPECIALIST I, CERTIFIED PEER SUPPORT SPECIALIST

LOCATION OF POSITION: MDH St. Mary's County Health Department, 21625 Great Mills Road Lexington Park, MD 20653 Main Purpose of Job The main purpose of this full-time position is to: Guide, support, and assist individuals on the recovery continuum. Facilitate the planning and implementation of recovery support activities for the LEAD program. Coordinate with Sheriff Deputies and other community partners. Minimum Qualifications Education: Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate. Experience: None. Licenses, Registrations, and Certifications Candidates must possess a current certification as a Peer Recovery Specialist within 24 months from date of hire from the Maryland Addictions Professional Certification Board (MAPCB). Employees may be assigned duties that require the operation of a motor vehicle and must possess a valid motor vehicle operator’s license in the State of Maryland. Special Requirements Failure to obtain the required certification within 24 months of continuous employment results in disciplinary action, including demotion, suspension, and dismissal. Applicants must be in a state of recovery for 2 years from a substance use, mental health, or co-occurring disorder before being qualified for hire. Employees must complete any additional training deemed necessary to maintain required certification. Employees are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with Code of Maryland Regulation 17.04.09.
