Municipal Law Attorney

We are an established firm based in Sacramento, CA with over 65 years in practice seeking a Municipal Law Attorney with 5+ years of experience in municipal and public agency law to join their team onsite. This Attorney will provide legal counsel and representation to public agencies, including cities, special districts, and related government entities, advising on matters ranging from land use and government contracting to ordinance drafting and governance.

Qualifications:

• 5+ years of legal experience in municipal law, public agency law, or a closely related field
• Active membership in good standing with the California State Bar
• Strong research, analytical, and written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team while independently managing projects and deadlines
• Experience with government contracting, land use, labor and employment law, or environmental law is a plus

Responsibilities:

• Provide legal guidance to public agencies, including cities and special districts, on complex matters involving land use, contracts, and governance
• Draft and review ordinances, resolutions, and policies to ensure compliance with state and federal law
• Attend and represent clients at administrative hearings, city council meetings, and planning commissions
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to develop innovative solutions to public law challenges
• Deliver training to public agency staff on relevant legal topics, including AB 1234 compliance
