Assembler IThe Assembler I position is responsible for independently assembling cooling towers or complete custom air handling systems including all mechanical and modular components, in accordance with engineering drawings, build orders, specifications, and quality standards. This position performs mechanical assembly, system integration, troubleshooting, fit-up, and final assembly activities associated with engineered-to-order air handling equipment.The Assembler I is responsible for performing mechanical and modular assembly activities associated with cooling towers or custom air handling systems in accordance with work instructions, engineering drawings, specifications, and quality standards under direct supervision and guidance. The Assembler I is expected to develop foundational assembly skills, mechanical aptitude, product knowledge, and familiarity with assembly processes while contributing to safety, quality, productivity, and schedule performance. The position performs standardized and repetitive assembly tasks while learning blueprint interpretation, assembly techniques, and system configurations associated with engineered-to-order air handling equipment. The Assembler I may work in multiple assembly stations as skill levels progress and may assume additional duties as assigned.While each day brings new opportunities at SPX, your core responsibilities will be:Assemble, adjust, and install prefabricated parts to manufacture air handling systemsPerform the various adjustments, settings, and fine-tuning operations necessary for assemblyInterpret blueprints, assembly drawings, bills of material, and engineering revisions accuratelyAssemble and install mechanical, structural, and modular system components including fan sections, coils, dampers, filter systems, access sections, electrical mounting components, and related assembliesIndependently assemble complete custom air handling units from start to finish using engineering drawings, specifications, and build ordersAssist with assembly of fan sections, coil sections, filter sections, dampers, and related air handling system componentsEarn and apply proper assembly, fastening, sealing, gasketing, and fit-up techniques required for air handling equipmentUtilize hand tools, pneumatic tools, measuring devices, and standard assembly equipment safely and effectivelyOperate overhead cranes, forklifts, man lifts, and material handling equipment safely and in accordance with company proceduresPerform basic troubleshooting and resolve simple assembly or fit-up issues while escalating more complex issues appropriatelyMaintain clean, organized, and safe work areas in accordance with company standardsParticipate in cross-training activities to develop skills across multiple assembly stations and processesFollow all company safety policies, procedures, and quality standardsSupport continuous improvement initiatives and assist in improving assembly efficiency and workflowPerform additional duties as assignedWe each bring something to the table, and we are looking for someone who has:Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn mechanical assembly processesAbility to follow work instructions, assembly drawings, and verbal direction accuratelyAbility to perform basic assembly, fastening, sealing, and fit-up activitiesAbility to safely utilize hand tools, pneumatic tools, measuring devices, and standard assembly equipmentAbility to operate overhead cranes, forklifts, man lifts, and material handling equipment safely and effectivelyAbility to develop blueprint reading and assembly interpretation skillsAbility to work effectively in a team-oriented manufacturing environmentAbility to adapt to changing production schedules and work assignmentsAbility to maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environmentStrong commitment to safety, quality, teamwork, attendance, and continuous improvementHigh school diploma or GED preferredPrevious manufacturing, mechanical assembly, construction, fabrication, or industrial experience preferredBasic mechanical aptitude requiredPrevious experience using hand tools, pneumatic tools, or measuring devices preferredAbility to learn blueprint reading and assembly processes requiredForklift, crane, or man lift certification preferredAbility to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment requiredStrong commitment to safety and quality standards requiredThe physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
