Cayuga Healths commitment to our employees includes competitive compensation, comprehensive employee benefits programs, and the opportunity to explore and build a career in healthcare through our many professional development programs./ppPerforms and leads general Security and Safety work in the protection of persons and property and the enforcement of applicable policies, procedures and regulations of Cayuga Health System as well as applicable Federal, State and Local laws to prevent loss due to accidents and incidents./ph3Roles and Responsibilities:/h3pProtection of Life Property/pulliUses proper lifting techniques during work tasks to prevent lifting injuries./liliEscorts individual in a timely manner as needed to ensure their safety./liliIs observant for unauthorized activities./liliMaintains work area in a clean and safe manner on a daily basis./liliCompletes daily security log./liliSubmits a concise, clear, accurate and complete incident report in a timely manner/liliResponds in a timely manner to all calls./liliMaintains continuous contact via phone or radio with subordinates and management/liliIs observant of all motor vehicle laws while operating a motor vehicle./liliLocks and unlocks areas as prescribed or as requested/liliAssists patients, visitors and staff as needed/liliIs observant and engages with suspicious persons at the facility./liliRemains highly visible during patrols/liliPatrols the facilities both inside and outside./li/ulpPerforms Fire and Safety Checks:/pulliInspects fire extinguishers and other safety equipment/liliInspects various directional and warning signs about the buildings and reports any need for replacement./liliInspects exit signs and reports any bulb replacement needed./liliKeeps well informed and participates in all fire, safety and disaster drills./liliInvestigates incident of injuries involving visitors and ensures a report is prepared./liliTakes proper action to correct safety and security shortcomings noted./liliCheck the outer portion of the buildings for safety hazards./liliInspects all elevators and interior fire escape stairwells to ensure that there are no obstructions and are well lighted. Reports any discrepancies./li/ulpEnforces all Federal, State and Local Laws, as well as all hospital Policies and Procedures:/pulliConduct preliminary investigations of complaints and incidents./liliAnswers all disturbances or criminal offense calls as requested./liliEnforces parking and access control rules and parameters/liliUses diplomacy to insure all persons are not offended or alienated./liliMonitors compliance with safety and security procedures./li/ulpFacility Equipment Maintenance:/pulliBasic mechanical ability to make minor repairs./liliAnalyze malfunctions and identify staff that can make repairs./liliAttempts to repair before calling for assistance when appropriate./li/ulpInvestigations of Incidents:/pulliInvestigates all incidents involving lost property, missing property, stolen property of all kinds, vandalism, all disturbances, missing patients, prank or obscene phone call, suspicious person, fire alarm, power failure, property damage and automobile accidents./liliPrepares incident report on completion of investigation./liliNotifies the proper individual and/or agency when appropriate./li/ulpMiscellaneous Activities:/pulliSnow and ice removal./liliInspection of facility lighting./liliInspection of doors and stair wells./liliSecurity of entrance doors./liliInterdepartmental support./li/ulpEducation and Development:/pulliCompletes all mandatory education requirements./liliAttends departments, onsite and off-site in-service as required./liliAttends department meetings./li/ulpPersonal Expectations:/pulliHelps others without prompting when work needs to be accomplished./liliIs independent of his/her performance and is self-directed./liliWork is completed in a timely fashion./liliMaintains a positive attitude in stressful situations./liliIs supportive, shares knowledge and skills, and is an approachable resource for others./liliCommunicates with others in a positive and respectful manner./liliProvides excellent customer service to patients, families, guests and other employees./liliIs flexible and willing to make changes for the benefit of the team./liliDemonstrates a high level of personal and professional accountability./liliIs receptive to learning and feedback and demonstrates a willingness to learn and accept change./liliIs capable of providing quality care or service to patients or customers./li/ulpRequired Skills and Experience:/pulliEducation - High School Diploma / GED/liliExperience - Able to drive vehicle in all weather conditions. Minimum of one year experience involving Security preferred but not necessary. Ability to produce an accurate and well written report. Ability to work alone or as part of a team. Good people skills./liliLicensure - A clean valid NYS Drivers license. Need to possess and/or ability to obtain a New York State Security Guard License and pass an FBI background check, no criminal convictions./li/ulpPhysical Requirements:/ppThis position requires the ability to assist with lifting patients. Able to stand, sit and walk for long periods of time. Ability to walk up and down stairs. Good vision and hearing. Rotate and work irregular shifts.
