Compliance Engineering Manager

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Compliance Engineering Manager to lead the compliance strategy, design oversight, development support, and global certification efforts for our next-generation Mobile Elevating Work Platforms (MEWP) product portfolio. This leadership role will be responsible for ensuring that all new and existing MEWP products meet applicable regulatory requirements, safety standards, and certification criteria throughout the product development lifecycle. The ideal candidate will serve as the primary compliance authority, working cross-functionally with engineering, product management, quality, manufacturing, and regulatory agencies to successfully launch innovative and safe aerial work platforms for global markets. Key Responsibilities Regulatory & Compliance Leadership Lead compliance strategy and certification activities for new MEWP product development programs. Interpret and apply applicable standards and regulations, including: ANSI A92 series CSA B354 series EN 280 ISO 12100 ISO 13849 IEC 61508 (as applicable) CE Marking requirements Machinery Directive / Machinery Regulation requirements OSHA and regional safety requirements Monitor evolving global regulations and industry standards, assessing impacts on current and future products. Serve as the primary liaison with certification bodies, notified bodies, testing laboratories, and regulatory agencies. Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software, systems, and controls engineering teams throughout product development. Ensure compliance requirements are integrated into product requirements, specifications, design reviews, and validation plans. Lead risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety reviews during all stages of product development. Support development of innovative safety technologies for electric, hybrid, and autonomous MEWP platforms. Guide engineering teams in implementing functional safety and machine safety requirements. Verification, Validation & Certification Develop and execute compliance verification and certification plans. Oversee testing activities including structural, stability, load, functional safety, and performance validation. Review engineering documentation, technical files, declarations of conformity, and compliance reports. Coordinate product audits and certification testing to support timely product launches. Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing compliance engineering team. Establish engineering processes, tools, and best practices to improve compliance efficiency. Partner with global engineering and manufacturing organizations to ensure consistent compliance execution. Provide technical leadership and training across the organization regarding regulatory requirements and industry standards. Quality & Continuous Improvement Support investigation of product safety concerns and field issues. Partner with Quality and Product Support teams on corrective and preventive actions. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve compliance readiness and reduce certification cycle times. Required Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or related technical discipline. 8+ years of engineering experience, including 3+ years in technical leadership or engineering management. Direct experience with mobile equipment, heavy machinery, aerial work platforms, construction equipment, or industrial machinery. Strong working knowledge of ANSI, ISO, CSA, and European compliance standards for mobile equipment. Experience leading product certification and compliance efforts from concept through launch. Demonstrated experience conducting risk assessments, hazard analyses, and safety evaluations. Strong project management, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced product development environment. Preferred Qualifications Advanced degree in Engineering or related field. Experience specifically within the MEWP, telehandler, crane, construction equipment, or agricultural equipment industries. Functional Safety certification (TÜV, CFSE, or equivalent). Experience with electric and hybrid-powered mobile equipment. Knowledge of embedded controls, software safety, and autonomous systems. Experience working with global regulatory agencies and certification organizations.
