Staff Accountant

Our client is looking for a detail-oriented, organized Staff Accountant to support daily accounting operations at our corporate office. This position plays a key role in accurate customer billing, payment collections, vendor invoice processing, customer account setup, and month-end close. The right candidate takes ownership of financial details, follows up on outstanding items, and communicates professionally with customers, vendors, and coworkers. Accuracy and consistency matter because daily transactions affect customer accounts, reporting, and the work of other departments. The Staff Accountant works with the Accounting, Sales, Operations, and Logistics teams while balancing multiple priorities in a fast-paced industrial distribution environment. Success in this role requires strong organization, sound accounting knowledge, professional communication, and reliable follow-through. Core Responsibilities Prepare, process, and email customer invoices accurately and on time Review billing details and maintain the supporting documentation needed for complete customer records Follow up with customers on outstanding invoices and payment status Respond professionally to account questions and help resolve discrepancies that delay payment Enter vendor invoices accurately, maintain organized accounts payable records, and follow up on missing information or invoice questions Gather the documentation needed to establish new customer accounts Assist with collecting and reviewing information used to determine or update customer credit limits Prepare customer checks and related payment information for deposit processing Maintain complete and accurate records of incoming payments Assist with reconciliations, transaction review, and other accounting tasks to help the team meet reporting deadlines Keep invoice, deposit, payment, and account documentation accurate and organized Work with internal departments, customers, and vendors to resolve questions and identify opportunities to improve accounting accuracy Required Skills/Experience (Must-Haves) Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business, or a related fields Good understanding of debits, credits, and how transactions flow into financial statements Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, and Word Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate financial records Excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment Preferred Skills/Experience (Nice-to-Haves) 1+ years of accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, collections, or related experience Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems Experience in an industrial, wholesale, distribution, manufacturing, or similar business environment Experience with customer account setup, credit documentation, invoicing, deposits, or month-end close support Location: St Louis, MO Onsite Permanent Full time Pay Range: The approximate pay range for this position is between $50,400.00 and $72,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and location.
