About the Role

The Company is seeking an Executive Director for its Youth & Government program, a role that demands a dynamic leader with a strong background in philanthropy, board development, and volunteer management. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing strategic and executive leadership to one of the nation's largest civic education and youth leadership programs, with a focus on sustaining its legacy and driving its future growth. This external-facing executive position requires a leader who can build and nurture relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including donors, board members, volunteers, and community leaders. The Executive Director will also oversee the program's statewide activities, including Model Legislature & Court, Model United Nations, and various national and statewide events, ensuring their quality, relevance, and sustainability. Candidates for the Executive Director position should have a minimum of 6-8 years' of progressive leadership experience in nonprofit management, youth development, or a related field, with a proven track record in fundraising, board governance, and volunteer management. The role demands an individual with exceptional communication, strategic thinking, and organizational leadership skills, who can translate the program's vision into action and foster a culture of philanthropy and volunteerism. While experience within the YMCA movement or Youth & Government is valuable, the ability to lead philanthropy, develop boards, and advance a complex statewide mission is central to the role. The ideal candidate will be a relationship-centered executive, capable of leading through influence in a network-based environment, and will be committed to the program's mission of empowering young people to be leaders and active participants in democracy.
