- Lead the organization's day-to-day finance and accounting operations.
- Oversee general ledger activity, accounts payable, accounts receivable, billing, payroll, and financial reporting.
- Manage and ensure timely completion of month-end and year-end close processes.
- Prepare accurate and timely financial reports for executive leadership and other stakeholders.
- Maintain strong financial controls and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards and nonprofit requirements.
- Develop, implement, and continuously improve accounting processes, policies, and procedures.
- Evaluate and improve accounting systems, infrastructure, and financial workflows.
- Lead, mentor, coach, and develop members of the finance and accounting team.
- Partner with executive leadership and operational teams to provide meaningful financial insight and support decision-making.
- Explain complex financial information in a clear and accessible manner to non-financial stakeholders.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, accuracy, controls, and financial reporting.
- Manage multiple priorities and deadlines within a fast-paced and evolving organization.
- Support organizational goals through sound financial leadership, analysis, and best practices.
- Maintain the highest standards of ethics, confidentiality, accuracy, and financial integrity.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Significant experience in nonprofit accounting and finance.
- Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance requirements.
- Proven experience managing month-end and year-end close processes.
- Experience managing and developing finance/accounting teams.
- Strong understanding of accounting and financial management systems.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to translate complex financial information for non-financial audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build productive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- High degree of integrity and ethical judgment.
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, complex, and rapidly changing environment.
- Strong hands-on approach with the ability to balance strategic leadership with tactical execution.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and deadlines.
