EMERGENCY ROOM TECH - Nights - Part Time Part Time - Nights Position summary: To provide quality care to the sick and injured patients presenting to the Emergency Department and requesting treatment under the guidance of the RN and physician. Coordinating care with other departments and other facilities as required, according to the patient’s needs. Role qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent Experience: Prior experience preferred but not required Licenses/Certificate: Current Missouri EMT License preferred but not required Current BCLS certification Position responsibilities Provide care in a non-judgmental, non-discriminatory manner that is sensitive to the pediatric, adult or elderly patient’s and family’s diversity, preserving their autonomy, dignity and rights. Assist with patient care to the sick or injured within the ED under the guidance of the RN, and physician. Document procedures, vital signs, patient triage and all other patient care provided. Assist with cleaning and preparing rooms for patient use, including and not limited to cleaning up biohazards, linens, instruments, equipment, and room readiness for the next patient. Maintain a clean and safe environment for patients and staff, including monitoring adequate supply and restocking of necessary supplies. Maintain thorough knowledge of equipment, its function and use and report any malfunction or damage to equipment promptly in accordance with hospital policy. Complete all required training/competencies in required emergency skills. As an EDT with documented competency testing, will assist and perform such skills as IV insertion, specimen collection, and respiratory treatments all with the guidance of RN, and ED Physician’s orders. Keep patients and their families informed about patient status and/or any delays in treatment and that this information is documented on the patient record, including patients in the waiting area. Maintain all required certifications. Provide courtesy to all within the hospital patients, staff, and guests. Maintain a positive, professional, and cooperative working relationship with physicians, nurses, public safety agencies, the public, allied health professionals, and EMS providers. Fax/transmit/request patient records when needed. Perform accurate registration, complete patient details, organize records/discharge instructions/transfer papers. Perform other duties as assigned. Essential skills and experience: Basic computer literacy. Must be able to effectively communicate clearly with appropriate tone with all patients, staff, and the community either in person, via phone or radio. Ability to analyze situations and make recommendations using critical thinking skills. #J-18808-Ljbffr
