Respiratory Therapist (CRT/RRT) - Inpatient

The Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) performs routine and critical respiratory care procedures under supervision, delivering care to neonatal, pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients. Key responsibilities Evaluating patient respiratory needs, administering therapy and medications, setting up and monitoring oxygen, aerosol, humidity, and ventilator support. Performing arterial and capillary blood gas analysis, participating in blood gas quality control, and maintaining respiratory equipment are essential duties. Qualifications Associate's Degree in Respiratory Therapy. Licensure as a Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) in Illinois. Certification as a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT). Additional certifications: BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NRP, all obtained within specified timeframes. Skills and competencies Patient assessment, airway management, blood gas analysis, equipment maintenance, and documentation in EMR. May involve training in intubation and arterial line insertion and taking on charge roles.
