Registered Nurse - Observation

Job Summary:
Providing specialized nursing care for outpatients on observation status, this role involves assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and ensuring effective care coordination. The nurse will monitor patient progress and collaborate with the healthcare team to optimize outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• Assess patient conditions regularly and deliver skilled nursing services aligned with physician-approved care plans.
• Administer medications, treatments, and assist with patient transfers and responses to alarms.
• Evaluate treatment effectiveness and contribute to updating care plans in collaboration with the care team.
• Process physician orders accurately and efficiently, including medication adjustments and order clarifications.
• Follow up on medication changes and ensure timely documentation and communication regarding patient care.

Qualifications:

• Possess at least 2 years of observation nursing experience.
• Hold an active Michigan or MI nursing license as verified by LARA or Nursys.
• Maintain current American Heart Association BLS certification.
• Demonstrate proficiency with Epic EMR and pertinent observation skills.
• Provide two supervisory reference forms completed within the past two years.
• Meet the skill and experience criteria for observation nursing as documented in relevant work history.
