Role description Arcadis is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join our expanding Department of Energy design team. Role accountabilities As a Project Environmental Engineer, you will lead remedial system design and assessments—collaborating closely with project managers and senior staff—to develop detailed design drawings (process-mechanical, PFDs, and P&IDs), technical specifications, and design calculations including basis of design, pump hydraulics, and gravity flow. You will also need to demonstrate a strong willingness to expand your skillset by undertaking additional process-mechanical tasks such as excavation dewatering design, conveyance and demolition support, utility isolation and expansion, and new facility design. Under senior guidance, you will prepare startup plans and standard operating procedures, while delegating drafting and drawing responsibilities to junior team members to ensure project efficiency. The Project Environmental Engineer will conduct feasibility research on alternative design approaches, evaluate site conditions, and ensure adherence to regulatory agency specifications. You will coordinate and participate in field activities including onsite treatment system startups and engineering oversight during construction, as well as contractor and vendor supervision for site characterization, soil and groundwater sampling, well installation, and excavation oversight. The role requires up to 25% travel to support construction, startup activities, pilot testing, full-scale remedial efforts, and to engage directly with clients, technical teams, and other stakeholders through face‑to‑face meetings. We offer nine paid holidays and 15 days PTO that accrue per year. The salary range for this position is $87,912 - $168,498.
