Assistant Controller

Job Location: This position will be located at 920 Wildwood, Jefferson City, MO 65109. The Assistant Controller position is integral in overseeing the bureau of Health Fiscal Services and a variety of other fiscal duties. If the individual selected or the position is eligible for a pay differential (e.g., shift, security, or years of service), it will be added to the total compensation in your paycheck. A pay differential does not raise your base pay Oversee Bureau of Health Fiscal Services (HFS) Work hand in hand with HFS Supervisors to ensure forward movement of Purchasing and Accounts Payble processes to meet federal guidelines Present at in-person trainings, meetings, and informational sessions as needed Develop clear and consistent communication methods for the bureau Help faciliate process change with implementation of the State's new financial system Inspire, mentor, and lead the team in their role of effectively supporting departmental operations Plan, organize, assign, and evaluate the work of team members performing a variety of accounting related functions Perform backup functions for the Controller Maintain systems, procedures, and policies that enable and encourage optimum performance of the team Provide technical support and training to department staff Utilize Microsoft Office Word, Excel, Access, Internet, and the state's financial system Identify issues, evaluate options and recommend solutions Minimum Qualifications: A Bachelor's degree and 4-6 years of relevant experience. CPA or CGFM preferred Prior supervisory experience Be accountable for themselves and to the team Highly organized, proactive and possess strong analytical skills Exercise independence, judgment, and initiative in the performance of their duties Ability to multi-task, manage time, prioritize, and meet deadlines Lack of post-secondary education will not be used as the sole basis denying consideration to any applicant.
