The Opportunity Our client is seeking an experienced Director of Operations to lead the day-to-day operations of its U.S. headquarters in Rockville, Maryland. This is a highly visible leadership role that will serve as the operational backbone of the U.S. organization. You'll partner closely with executive leadership and global operations to ensure the Rockville site operates efficiently while building the scalable infrastructure necessary to support continued growth. The ideal candidate is equally comfortable developing long-term operational strategy and rolling up their sleeves to solve day-to-day challenges. What You'll Do Executive Partnership Partner closely with executive leadership to drive strategic initiatives and operational priorities. Coordinate cross-functional projects and ensure key initiatives are executed successfully. Serve as a trusted operational advisor, helping translate business objectives into execution. Site Operations Leadership Lead all day-to-day operations for the Rockville headquarters. Ensure an efficient, organized, and productive work environment that supports both scientific and corporate teams. Continuously improve operational processes to support organizational growth. Team Leadership & Development Lead, mentor, and develop the U.S. Operations team. Foster a collaborative, high-performing culture focused on service, accountability, and continuous improvement. Provide coaching and professional development opportunities for team members. Operational Excellence Design, implement, and optimize scalable operational processes, policies, and systems. Develop practical workflows that balance speed, compliance, and operational excellence. Create and maintain operational documentation and standard operating procedures (SOPs). Procurement & Vendor Management Oversee procurement activities, purchasing processes, contract negotiations, and vendor relationships. Manage external service providers to ensure quality, cost-effectiveness, and operational reliability. Facilities & Site Expansion Manage office and laboratory facilities, including maintenance, space planning, and infrastructure projects. Support future expansion initiatives as the Rockville site continues to grow. Cross-Functional Partnership Collaborate closely with Human Resources, Finance, IT, Legal, Facilities, and global Operations. Ensure seamless execution of company initiatives across departments. Technology & Business Systems Support the implementation and optimization of ERP platforms and other operational technologies. Identify opportunities to improve reporting, automation, and overall business efficiency. What We're Looking For Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree in Business Administration, Life Sciences, Engineering, or a related field preferred. 7+ years of experience in business operations, corporate operations, site operations, or operational leadership within biotechnology, pharmaceutical, or life sciences organizations. Experience partnering with senior executives and C-level leaders in a high-growth environment. Demonstrated success building operational infrastructure and scalable business processes. Strong understanding of operational best practices and compliance within biotechnology or pharmaceutical organizations. Experience managing facilities, procurement, vendor relationships, contract negotiations, and office operations. Experience implementing or supporting ERP systems and other enterprise business technologies. Outstanding organizational, project management, and problem-solving skills. Strong executive presence with the ability to influence stakeholders across all levels of the organization. Comfortable balancing strategic planning with hands‑on execution in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment. Why Join?
