Position Summary

Mobility Auto Group is seeking a skilled and self-driven Mechanical Technician to join our team. We are looking for someone with strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on automotive repair experience. Previous experience with wheelchair-accessible vehicles or adaptive mobility equipment is a plus, but not required. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, mechanically inclined, eager to learn, and committed to delivering high-quality workmanship with a focus on safety and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities

• Diagnose, service, and repair wheelchair-accessible vans and mobility equipment.
• Install and troubleshoot a variety of mobility products, including:
• Wheelchair lifts (hydraulic and electric)
• Power ramps and manual ramp systems
• Transfer seats and hand controls
• Docking systems and tie-downs
• Adaptive driving equipment
• Perform general mechanical repairs and modifications on vehicles.
• Diagnose and repair 12V automotive electrical systems, wiring harnesses, relays, switches, and control modules.
• Interpret wiring diagrams, technical schematics, and manufacturer specifications.
• Conduct quality inspections to ensure compliance with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines.
• Communicate clearly with service advisors, managers, and customers regarding diagnostics and repair recommendations.
• Maintain organized documentation of work performed.
• Ensure a clean, safe, and professional work environment.

Required Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a Mobility Technician or Mechanical Technician
• Strong understanding of 12V automotive electrical systems
• Experience with a broad range of conversion manufacturers and adaptive equipment brands/or OEM brands (Chrysler, Toyota, Honda)
• Proven experience installing and servicing wheelchair lifts, ramps, hand controls, and related systems
• Ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical issues
• Proficient with diagnostic tools and shop equipment
• Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
• Ability to lift 50+ lbs and perform physical shop work

Preferred Qualifications

• Welding or fabrication experience
• Mobility Equipment installation/repair experience
• Strong problem-solving skills and independent work ethic
