As part of our continued growth under the One Norlee platform, we are seeking a Senior Estimator.
Position Summary
The individual in this role is a knowledgeable Sr. Electrical Estimator with a minimum of 7 years of estimating experience. The Sr. Electrical Estimator will be responsible for producing accurate and timely electrical estimates for projects across the Norlee platform, developing comprehensive and competitive bids. This role will also work closely with the internal and external business development and executive teams to provide support on bids and collaborate with the Vice President as well as other estimators to ensure that the company remains competitive in the marketplace.
Key Measurables
Success in this role is defined by measurable performance outcomes, including:
- Contribute to securing $20-$30 million in awarded electrical projects annually through accurate and competitive estimates.
- Maintain an average weekly estimating volume of $10-$15 million , inclusive of budgets, proposals, and competitive bids.
- Produce estimates within ±5% accuracy of market pricing benchmarks.
- Complete all assigned estimates ahead of bid deadlines and in accordance with Norlee’s established estimating procedures.
- Prepare and distribute complete Bills of Materials (BOMs)and RFQs for vendor and subcontractor pricing on time.
- Provide clear, well-documented audit trails and turnover packages to support effective handoff to operations.
- Identify value-engineering opportunities and constructability considerations that improve project competitiveness.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Vice President and executive team regarding estimating deliverables, risks, and bid strategy.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
An individual in this role is a professional, detail-oriented, and personable leader committed to the success of each project and the overall organization. This commitment is demonstrated through the following key responsibilities, along with other related duties that may be assigned from time to time:
- Prepare, coordinate, and lead the development of complete and accurate cost estimates and budgets for assigned electrical projects. Must have experience in leading and participating in the bidding and budgeting of projects in excess of $50 million.
- Review all bid documents—including specifications, drawings, instructions to bidders, and basis of design—to determine project scope and ensure a precise and comprehensive estimate.
- Maintain organized and current estimating files, including backup documentation, supplier pricing, and labor data from estimating software and vendor communications.
- Support other estimating team members as required, which may include assisting with multi-discipline estimates and providing expertise during normal business hours.
- Evaluate design options and recommend cost-effective, constructible solutions based on engineering quality, schedule impact, and material availability.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, site walks, and vendor/subcontractor meetings to assess site conditions and clarify project requirements.
- Apply knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC)and related standards to ensure all estimates meet compliance requirements.
- Communicate effectively—both verbally and in writing—with internal departments, leadership, vendors, clients, and industry partners.
- Apply advanced estimating knowledge to solve complex problems and share expertise across the team to continuously refine procedures, processes, and standards.
- Implement and maintain Norlee systems, templates, and procedures as they relate to the estimating process.
- Supervise and participate in quantity takeoffs for all components of the estimate, ensuring documentation is detailed and suitable for project handoff, including safety and security considerations per Norlee policies.
- Review subcontractor and vendor proposals for accuracy, scope alignment, and potential risks, providing clear recommendations for award.
- Provide mentorship, direction, and training to estimating team members—distributing workload effectively to leverage strengths, promote professional development, and ensure balanced experience exposure.
- Evaluate and estimate complex electrical drawings, verify fixture types, quantities, and system requirements for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications
To successfully perform and fulfill the requirements of this role, an individual must demonstrate the following qualifications:
Education and Experience
A Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related discipline is preferred, along with a minimum of 10 years of progressive Healthcare and commercial electrical estimating experience. An equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
The individual in this role is responsible for ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with established company policies, procedures, and applicable safety regulations. Adherence to organizational safety standards and relevant legislation is required at all times.
Language and Communication Skills
Must be able to prepare and deliver clear written reports, cost estimates, and procedural documentation. Strong verbal communication skills are required to effectively interact with clients, general contractors, suppliers, and internal team members. Frequent face-to-face communication and collaboration are expected as part of daily responsibilities.
Mathematical Skills
Must possess strong mathematical and analytical abilities, including proficiency in addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, as well as calculating percentages, costs, gross margins, and gross profits. Attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to meet deadlines while producing high-quality work with supporting documentation are essential.
Technical and Software Skills
Proficiency with ConEst Intellibid, ConEst Surecount, Bluebeam, Procore, and the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Teams) is required. Familiarity with other estimating or project management tools is an asset.
Physical Demands
The individual is frequently required to stand, walk, reach, and crouch. Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination are necessary for operating computers, tools, and standard office or field equipment.
Work Environment
Work is primarily performed in an office setting, with periodic visits to active construction sites. Site conditions may vary based on the project phase and may include exposure to uneven terrain, dust, noise, temperature fluctuations, and other environmental factors. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, footwear, and hearing protection, must be worn as required.
