Director, Strategic Client Finance | AmLaw Global Law Firm Compensation: $205,600 – $283,000 + Overtime & Bonus Work Arrangement: Hybrid | 4 Days On-Site Industry: Legal Services | Global Financial Operations Plona Partners has been exclusively engaged in identifying a Director of Strategic Client Finance for a highly prestigious, globally recognized AmLaw firm with an extensive international presence and a sophisticated portfolio of institutional clients. This is a high-visibility leadership opportunity for an accomplished legal finance executive to oversee the financial operations of one of the firm's most significant global client relationships. The selected individual will serve as the senior financial leader within a dedicated executive leadership team, overseeing a complex international portfolio involving hundreds of active legal matters, substantial annual revenue, and a global network of attorneys and external legal service providers. Key Responsibilities: Provide strategic financial leadership across a complex, high-value global client portfolio, including revenue management, financial planning, forecasting, profitability, and compliance. Partner directly with senior law firm leadership, relationship partners, and legal operations executives to influence commercial strategy and financial performance. Lead and develop established finance, revenue management, and invoice compliance teams. Oversee billing operations, collections, realization, work in progress (WIP), matter budgeting, and revenue optimization. Establish financial governance frameworks, reporting dashboards, and operational controls to improve efficiency and accountability. Manage financial oversight of an extensive international network of local counsel and external legal service providers. Identify opportunities to strengthen profitability, streamline financial processes, and support the continued expansion of a major institutional client relationship. Ideal Candidate Profile: Extensive experience in law firm finance, revenue management, billing operations, or financial leadership within a sophisticated professional services environment. Strong understanding of AmLaw financial operations, including realization, collections, matter profitability, client billing guidelines, and financial reporting. Demonstrated success managing complex, high-value client portfolios and leading multidisciplinary finance teams. Experience supporting global institutional clients, sophisticated billing arrangements, and international financial operations. Strong executive presence with the ability to advise senior partners, finance leadership, and other key stakeholders.
