JOB DESCRIPTIONCITY OF FARMINGTONJOB POSITION #156 Maintenance Technician-PlumberNUMBER OF VACANCIES: 1DEPARTMENT: General ServicesWORK LOCATION: MOC-Building MaintenanceTYPE OF POSITION: Regular/Full-timeHIRING RANGE: $23.69-$36.89/hourPAY CLASS: KDAYS WORKED: Monday-Friday HOURS WORKED: 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.APPLICATIONS WILL BE RECEIVED THROUGH: Until FilledJOB DUTIES:ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Using excellent customer service skills, establishes and maintains effective working relationships with other employees, officials, and all members of the general public.Operates a motor vehicle to assist in carrying out the business of the department and the City.Works under the supervision of the Lead Plumber.May supervise support personnel, or other part-time or temporary staff as assigned.Repairs and maintains plumbing and mechanical equipment at City Owned facilities; make minor repairs independently and works as a crew member on larger projects; identifies building problems and appropriate method of repair.Performs a variety of repair and maintenance tasks, including the repair and replacement of plumbing, fixtures, gas, chiller and hydronic heating systems.Perform plumbing, gas and other mechanical installations and remodels; works from plans and blueprints and from verbal instructions; utilizes a variety of hand and power tools.Inspects mechanical equipment for defects and make necessary repairs.Performs some custodial duties as assigned.Performs routine plumbing and mechanical inspections for preventative maintenance.Performs routine maintenance on motors, electrical problems, carpentry, plumbing, heating, air conditioning, boilers, and other related mechanical equipment.Operates a wide range of vehicles and motorized equipment, including but not limited to: backhoe, Skid-Steer, and forkliftAttendance at work is an essential function of this position.NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES:Serves as a member of various employee committees, as assigned.Assists other personnel of Building Maintenance as needed.The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. This includes: pre-employment testing, post-accident testing, random testing, reasonable suspicion testing, return-to-duty testing, and follow-up testing.Extensive background checks required.A pre-employment physical and or drug/alcohol test is required for this position.Graduation from high school or GED equivalent, and Two (2) years of experience in plumbing and maintenance fields.Valid New Mexico's driver's license with acceptable driving record for the past three years.Must possess or have the ability to obtain New Mexico State Journeyman Plumber and Journeyman Gas fitter licenses (JPG) within one (1) year of date of hire.Knowledge of Uniform Plumbing and Mechanical Codes and Standards.Must possess strong computer skills.TOOLS AND EQUIPMENT USED:Knowledge to include use of common hand and power tools for maintenance, carpentry, plumbing and electrical work; compressors, acetylene and oxygen welders, pneumatic calibration gauges, detection devices, motor vehicle, mobile radio, phone.PHYSICAL DEMANDS:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
