MEP/HVAC Project Manager

Location: Joliet, IL (Greater Chicago Area)

Job Type: Full-Time

Compensation: $65,000 – $80,000 + Benefits

Position Summary

IBS is seeking an HVAC Project Manager to lead commercial mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. The successful candidate will be responsible for project planning, budgeting, scheduling, client communication, subcontractor coordination, and overall project execution.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple HVAC and mechanical construction projects simultaneously.
• Develop and maintain project budgets, schedules, and forecasts.
• Prepare conceptual estimates and support preconstruction activities.
• Coordinate with owners, engineers, subcontractors, suppliers, and field teams.
• Administer subcontracts, procurement activities, and project documentation.
• Monitor project costs, billing, change orders, and profitability.
• Support field operations, labor planning, and productivity tracking.
• Maintain strong client relationships and provide regular project updates.

Required Qualifications

• 2+ years of project management experience in HVAC, mechanical, MEP, or construction environments.
• Strong knowledge of HVAC systems and commercial mechanical construction.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
• Experience managing project schedules, budgets, and coordination efforts.
• Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and project management tools.
• Valid driver's license with an insurable driving record.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Experience with AHUs, VAV systems, chillers, boilers, ductwork, piping, and BAS controls.
• Design-build and lump-sum project experience.
• Estimating and budget development experience.
• Union labor experience.
• Experience in healthcare, laboratory, higher education, or institutional projects.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is a plus.
