Commercial Manager

How You Will Make an Impact Manages the day-to-day and long-terms commercial matters for complex projects, often with staff coming from multiple joint venture partners, subcontractors and subconsultants. Provides executive oversight to all aspects of the commercial management function. Oversees commercial interactions with all subcontractors and consultants, working closely with the Project Business Manager, including payments, backcharges, and review and interpretation of contract clauses. Interprets contract language to understand the risks, rights and responsibilities of the project team and guide project team in properly managing in accordance with these clauses to limit exposure to additional costs. Reviews and analyzes contract management records to provide advice for the purposes of limiting exposure or protecting the Company from additional risks due to changes and claims. Oversees project change and claim reporting and provides reporting to Project Manager and Divisional leadership. Oversees change and claim preparation, management and resolution for the project, working closely with the project team and corporate legal representatives. Leads the preparation for disputes resolution hearing and other alternative resolution methods meetings. Supports integration of project systems to track, monitor and control costs or schedule and claim resolution. Working closely with the Project Controls Manager, ensures accurate training and utilization of approved systems for project document control and reporting. Performs regular project reviews and monitors job risks and change management against key performance indicators (KPIs). Coordinates with project team and Project Controls Manager in tracking and monitoring change order and claims preparation and resolution. Prepares action plan for resolving timely payment for change orders and work performed. Reviews /under billing to determine possible measures for resolution. Coordinates, manages and provides assistance to outside counsel and third party consultants as needed for claim and change resolution. Perform additional assignments per management's direction. Who You Are 10+ years’ experience in construction engineering, project management or project controls strongly preferred Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field a plus. Proven experience in bid-build, CMCG, design build and other alternative delivery projects required. Valid Driver’s License Strong interpersonal skills proven to engage and retain positive working relationships. Strong proven skill to identify, track and manage project risk. Proven ability to efficiently and effectively manage multiple departments and direct reports to retain focus on one project completion goal and timeline. Proven ability to identify growth opportunities for project personnel and developed to coach and mentor project personnel. Proven ability to delegate task driven responsibilities to project personnel. Proven knowledge and ability to analyze and interpret financial documentation to identify and mitigate project risk. Advanced and proven interpersonal skills with internal and external contacts. Effective delegation skills to drive efficient, accurate and profitable project completion. Strong ability to appropriately recover funds from claim and dispute resolution. Intermediate to advanced skills in managing multiple departments and direct reports to retain focus on one project completion goal and timeline. Strong, inherent ability and drive to negotiate terms of agreement for project work, budget and fund recovery in the project’s best interest. Strong internal branding and sales knowledge to constantly promote yourself and the Company brand.
