Plant Operator

Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent required. Basic mechanical skills and basic computer knowledge required. Mobile or stationary equipment experience beneficial, as is experience in manufacturing or construction industries. Physical demands: labor can range from light to heavy. Work environment includes control tower, industrial outdoors, mobile equipment, stationary equipment; PPE, monitoring systems, and precautions used to avoid exposure to hazards. Responsibilities Operate asphalt plant – automated drum and batch plant systems; operations controlled through automated computer systems and control boards. Communicate with quality control personnel to ensure specifications met and adjust mix formulas and production accordingly. Monitor plant status, adjust plant as needed, load out material onto dump trucks, dispatch trucks. Communicate with internal paving crews, project teams and external customers; adjust production to maximize profits, minimize waste, maintain or improve quality. Ensure customer satisfaction through quality and customer service. Keep plant running at optimal performance to avoid downtime and ensure customer satisfaction. Ensure safe working environment for yourself and your co-workers; participate in safety discussions and support company vision on safety. Schedule production needs for following day and adjust schedule for current day. Perform daily, weekly, and monthly documentation and reporting as needed. Plan the following day’s production plan and order raw materials. Assist in preventative maintenance on plant, scheduled repairs, and breakdown repairs; focus on eliminating downtime and provide innovative solutions. Perform winter maintenance repairs on plant. Assist as an equipment operator when needed; operate a CAT 980 or 966 Loader to feed raw materials into cold feed/recycle bins, maintain/manage stockyard; also operate manlifts, material handlers, skid steers, forklifts as required.
