Embedded Systems EngineerLocation: Atlanta, GA (Full-Time)Role Overview Seeking a hands-on Embedded Systems Engineer to develop, test, and troubleshoot electronics and firmware for instrumentation systems. This position spans embedded firmware development, PCB-level debugging, communication protocols, and electromechanical systems integration.Key ResponsibilitiesFirmware Development: Design, write, and maintain microcontroller firmware using C/C++.Hardware & PCB Design: Handle PCB schematic capture, layout design, component selection, design reviews, and physical hardware modifications using tools like KiCad, Altium, OrCAD, or Eagle.System Testing & Bring-Up: Bring up, test, debug, and modify electronic circuits and PCB assemblies.Electromechanical Integration: Troubleshoot components including stepper motors, motor drivers, sensors, actuators, and pumps.Hardware Debugging: Utilize oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, and bench power supplies to diagnose failures.Communication Protocols: Implement and debug interfaces such as UART, SPI, I²C, USB, CAN, RS-232/RS-485, and Ethernet.Signal Integrity & Diagnostics: Identify and resolve issues involving signal integrity, noise, grounding, power delivery, timing, and EMI/EMC.Automation & Tools: Write Python scripts and diagnostic tools to support hardware verification and testing.Documentation & Production: Create test procedures, document designs and technical findings, and support manufacturing bring-up from prototype to production.Minimum QualificationsBS in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).Direct experience writing embedded firmware in C/C++.Hands-on experience with electronic hardware, PCB design tools, schematics, and datasheets.Solid grasp of digital and analog electronics fundamentals.Proficiency with standard lab diagnostic tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters).Experience troubleshooting electromechanical systems (motors, drivers, sensors) and embedded communications (UART, SPI, I²C).Preferred QualificationsExperience addressing signal integrity and EMI/EMC compliance issues.Familiarity with Embedded Linux or single-board computers (e.g., Raspberry Pi).Track record of building Python-based test tools.Experience bringing electronic hardware through full product lifecycles into manufacturing.Version control experience using Git.Type: Direct HireCategory: Biotech/R&D/ScienceDate Posted: 2026-09-15
