Licensed Practical Nurse PT Nights UCHC NSP Location: Northern State Prison, Newark, NJ Working Hours: 20 hours per week, Night shift (full onsite work arrangement). Overview University Correctional Health Care (UCHC) of Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, provides physical, mental, dental, and sex offender treatment services to individuals in the criminal justice system. This part‑time Licensed Practical Nurse will work in the Northern State Prison in Newark, NJ. Posting Summary This role administers total patient care in accordance with nursing standards under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include patient assessments, assistance with discharge planning, documentation, and participation in data collection. Responsibilities Participate in data collection related to patient status and needs. Provide input to the Registered Nurse for incorporation into the plan of care by communicating patient status information. Provide direct patient care within scope of practice to ensure implementation of the plan of care. Inform and instruct patients and significant others on patient health and plan of care. Assist patient/significant other in preparation for discharge and health maintenance at home. Document all aspects of patient care. Qualifications Certifications/Licenses: Valid registration as a Licensed Practical Nurse in the State of New Jersey. CPR certification. Valid Driver’s License. Must possess own vehicle or alternative transportation to move between sites. Preferred Experience: At least six (6) months of experience in an acute hospital setting. Physical Demands & Work Environment Must be physically capable of performing CPR for at least ten minutes and be able to assist in lifting and rotating patients who are unable to ambulate (up to 50 pounds). Special Conditions Must be approved by the Department of Corrections (DOC) and adhere to all DOC requirements. Salary Grade 215 – Minimum $32,520; Mid Range $33,020; Maximum $34,010. Final salary offer may be influenced by qualifications, experience, and available department or grant funds.
