Senior Director, HRMA | Forensic & Litigation Consulting

About the Role
The Healthcare Risk Management & Advisory (HRMA) practice delivers data‑driven solutions across corporate engagements and litigation matters. The team serves clients along the healthcare continuum—including health systems, payors, life sciences, law firms, banks, and private equity firms—by optimizing performance and responding to strategic, operational, regulatory, and financial challenges.
What You’ll Do
Senior Directors work within diverse teams of professionals, including nurse reviewers, coding specialists, and physicians, to assist clients in reviewing medical records. Responsibilities include:
- Reviewing outpatient, physician office, and inpatient medical records, evaluating diagnoses and procedures, and validating code assignments (ICD‑10‑CM/PCS, CPT, HCPCS, MS‑DRG, HCCs).
- Researching billing, coding, and reimbursement regulations and preparing detailed written analyses with regulatory citations.
- Articulating complex coding and clinical terminology for internal teams, clients, and counsel.
- Preparing written analyses of coding findings and guiding project strategy, including coordinating team efforts and communicating key insights and recommendations to client executives.
- Providing education to physicians and staff on documentation guidelines and reviewing client policies related to coding and clinical documentation.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree.
- Current/active coding certification: Certified Professional Coder (CPC), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), or Certified Outpatient Coder (COC).
- 10+ years of total working experience, including 8+ years medical coding or clinical documentation improvement in a consulting environment.
- Proficiency with grouper software and coding reference books for code assignment.
- Experience with EMR systems such as EPIC, Cerner, Athena, or AdvancedMD.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Willingness to travel up to 30% annually.
- Authorization to work in the United States on a full‑time basis; no visa sponsorship.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of APC assignment logic, National Correct Coding Initiative edits, ICD‑10‑CM/PCS Official Coding Guidelines, AHA Coding Clinic, and CPT assignment guidelines.
- Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) ASCP Certification or related laboratory experience.
- Experience in testing, mediation, or arbitration.
- Experience auditing and monitoring fundamentals.
Compensation
Minimum Pay: $119,500Maximum Pay: $329,500The range reflects potential base salary. Actual compensation will depend on market considerations, business needs, location, skills, level of experience, and qualifications.
