Job Title: Machinist D Job Code: 38986 Job Location: Bristol, PA Job Schedule: 9/80, 7:00AM-4:00PM or 7:30AM-4:30PM Job Description: Execute day-to-day operational needs of a model/machine shop for fabrication of machined parts, tools, and fixtures using hand operated and/or CNC milling machine, lathe, and other typical machine shop equipment. Support Engineering department in the development of new products, tools, and fixtures. Essential Functions: Perform conventional and CNC machining, milling, lathe turning, cutting, grinding, and related tasks to fabricate mechanical parts per engineering designs. Modify many different modifications of COTS components/connectors/materials using machine shop tools/dies, etc.... to .001" precision Provide technical input and engage in technical interchange with mechanical engineers on the mechanical design, prototyping, development and assembly of products. Work from Blueprints, sketches, or Computer Aided Design (CAD) files. Craft precision tools that are used to cut, shape, and form metal and other materials. Demonstrates superior quality, accuracy and thoroughness and monitors own work to ensure quality. Read, understand, follow, and enforce safety procedures, while maintaining a commitment to a high standard of safety; comply with all safety laws as well as company safety policies and procedures. Interfacing with and work effectively with multiple cross functional groups including but not limited to design engineering, manufacturing engineering, quality, procurement, and manufacturing personnel. Provides basic support functions on behalf of facilities department on an as needed basis Qualifications: High School Diploma or equivalent and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or 2 years post-Secondary/associate's degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. Minimum 5 years' experience in setup and operation of CNC and hand milling machines, lathes, and other shop tools. Preferred Additional Skills: Inspection of parts using various measuring equipment including Micrometers, Calipers and using a CMM Coordinate Measuring Machine. Ability to read, fully understand and interpret mechanical fabrication and assembly drawings designed to ASME 14.5M-1994 standard for complex, tight tolerance mechanical parts and assemblies Working knowledge of geometric dimensions and tolerances. Self-starter, high energy, results-oriented and ability to multi-task. Excellent cross-functional teamwork, coordination and communication skills, both verbal and written.
