As an integral part of our Federally Qualified Health Center-Look Alike, you will assist dentists in providing high-quality oral healthcare to patients of all ages. The ideal candidate is patient-focused, detail-oriented, and passionate about working with patients in a diverse community setting.Key Responsibilities:Greet patients when they sign in and monitor arrival timeSet up treatment rooms for proceduresEscort patients to treatment roomSeat patients in treatment roomsShow care and concern, and help patients feel comfortableObtain and review health histories according to office protocolEnsure patients are always attendedAnticipate and assist dentist's needsPerform expanded functions and other tasks as assigned by the dentistMix dental materialsEnsure patients' questions are answered thoroughly before they leaveChart patients and record date, service rendered and any chargesEscort patients from the treatment roomEnsure proper treatment notes are recorded in patient's chartPerform clinical procedures as practice act allows and as directed by dentistGive patient instruction and demonstrate when necessaryMonitor patient flowNotify Treatment Coordinator if a patient should be called in the evening after a difficult appointmentTreatment Room Management and SterilizationKeep dental units ready, stocked and cleanOversee cleanliness of the treatment room according to sterilization proceduresDisinfect treatment rooms according to OSHA regulationsSterilize all instruments and handpieces according to OSHA regulationsKeep trays, instruments and treatment room drawers organizedEnsure that office sterilization procedures document is on displayPromptly send out and monitor all dental laboratory casesImplement the preventative maintenance/cleaning schedule for dental equipmentMaintain dental office emergency kits and nitrous and oxygen tanksFollow laboratory procedures according to office protocolAssist dentists with examinations, treatments, and procedures, ensuring a comfortable and positive experience for all patients.Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary materials are available.Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist.Educate patients and parents on proper oral hygiene, preventive care, and post-treatment instructions.Maintain accurate patient records and documentation in compliance with FQHC standards and HIPAA regulations.Provide chairside assistance during dental procedures, including behavior management techniques appropriate for children.Administer fluoride treatments and apply dental sealants as directed.Ensure infection control and sterilization protocols are strictly followed.Assist with scheduling, billing, and coordinating patient appointments as needed.Support outreach and community education efforts to promote dental health.Records Management:Securely store and handle patient records in compliance with state and federal requirements, including the HIPAA privacy and security regulationsAccurately file patient informationArrange patient charts and radiographs for next day's appointmentsTrack cases and referrals to and from other doctorsAssist in the administration of the recall systemInventory Management:Monitor inventory and order dental office supplies as neededEnsure that treatment rooms are stocked at all timesQualifications & Skills:High school diploma or equivalent required.Completion of an accredited Dental Assistant program preferred.Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) or state-specific dental assisting certification preferredCPR and First Aid certification required.Strong communication skills with the ability to comfort and engage patients.Bilingual proficiency is a plus.Familiarity with Epic Wisdom dental software and electronic health records (EHR) preferred.Schedule:Mon-Thurs, hours 8 AM - 4 PMThis position is currently open for part-time or full-timeJoin our team and make a difference in the lives of patients by providing exceptional dental care!E-Verify Notice:MCHC participates in E-Verify to verify the employment eligibility of all new hires in accordance with U.S. law.
